The club was founded in 2006 by Adam Jeffers with a group of friends graduating from university in Manchester. The team has always had a strong focus on the social aspects of being part of a team, and has continually aimed to play the game with a good level of integrity. The team has regularly achieved a mid-table position in Division 1 through the years, finished 4th and 3rd more recently. Chorlton have played and won two North vs South 'Mersey Mug' challenge matches against Old Alts 2nds Saturday team who play on the other side of the River Mersey. Chorlton now retain the prestigious mug, and it is fought for each year between squad members that are North vs those that are South of the River Mersey. In 2012 Chorlton reached their first cup final, and were narrowly defeated by Manchester United SC. In 2014 Chorlton won their first ever European match which was played on an island off the coast of Zadar, Croatia.
In the nine year history of the club, Chorlton FC has never won a trophy.
